The PSC has several consumer-focused events coming up before the end of the year, so we wanted to produce this timeline to help you plan ahead. These are the basics of events that you, as a ratepayer in our state, may find of relevance, but reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter if you have questions about these events or any others scheduled on the Commission’s calendar. There will also be Commission business meetings through the end of the year—almost always on Wednesdays at 2 p.m., although that time is subject to change based on holidays and hearing dates. Consult the PSC’s calendar for updates on those meetings or follow the PSC on Facebook or Twitter.

November 2020:

On November 17th (and possibly the 18th, depending on need), the PSC will host a generic proceeding in Docket No. 2019-182-E, pertaining to the South Carolina Energy Freedom Act to investigate the costs and benefits of the current net metering program and to establish the methodology for calculating the value of the energy produced by customer-generators.

The Commission offices will be closed on November 26th and 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, November 30th.

December 2020:

On December 10th and continuing through the 11th, the PSC will hold an exploration of a procurement program for energy and capacity from solar and renewable energy facilities by electrical utilities (as allowed under SC Code Section 58-41-20(E)(2)). You can find more documentation related to this issue under Docket No. 2019-365-E.

On December 15th and 16th, the Commission will hold a proceeding involving Dominion Energy South Carolina, Inc. and SC Code Ann. Section 58-41-30, which pertains to utilities and their voluntary renewable energy program. This will be livestreamed at this link and more information is available at Docket No. 2019-209-E.

The Commission offices will be closed on December 24th, 25th, and 28th. We will reopen at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29th.

January 2021:

In early January, the PSC’s series of merit hearings in Docket No. 2020-125-E will commence—this relates to a request made by Dominion Energy South Carolina. Those hearings will begin on January 5th at 10 a.m. and will continue through the week of the 5th, as necessary, and will be livestreamed to the public at this link.
