On January 13th, 2021, the Public Service Commission issued Order 2021-26 which (among other mandates) set a virtual public night hearing in Docket No. 2020-229-E. This docket involves Dominion Energy South Carolina (formerly known as SCE&G) and the company’s establishment of a solar choice metering tariff. The virtual public hearing will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23rd.
Here’s how to register and provide testimony:
- Either email communications@psc.sc.gov or call 803.896.5133 and provide your name, the telephone number at which you can be reached, and your physical address. You'll need to do this before March 22nd at 4:45 p.m., and we'd recommend doing so immediately in case time slots fill up quickly.
- On March 23rd, a representative of the Commission will call you back when it’s your time to speak. You’ll be called in the order you signed up in. Please note that the Commission will only attempt to reach you three times, so keep your phone nearby.
- Once you’re on the line with the Commission, you’ll be able to speak for up to three minutes about your opinion on Dominion’s request. Need details about that request? You can find those—as provided by Dominion—at the notice of hearing right here.

How long do I have to speak?
Three minutes—we ask that all testifiers keep their testimony to under three minutes, so that the Public Service Commission can hear from everyone.
Why am I being sworn in?
Your comments are given on the record and are recorded as part of the case—ergo, you must be sworn in.
Can I ask questions?
No—Commissioners are bound by the Code of Judicial Conduct, and so they can’t answer any questions. This is your opportunity to speak, and the Commissioners want to listen to your experiences and opinions.
I don't want to testify. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! On the day of the hearings, you'll be able to watch the testimony of others through the Commission's livestream at this link.
